Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of several frequencies in the television broadcast band for the purpose of providing media coverage of the presidential inauguration and related events in Washington, DC from the period of January 13 through January 21, 2009. Numerous frequencies and transmitter units are being requested due to the magnitude of this event and the number of media staff that will require support. Broad Comm provides radio frequency support services to broadcasters and broadcast network entities for coverage of events. In this case Broad Comm will be supporting all media under the auspices of the Inauguration Communications Committee The FCC has granted Broad Comm and others similar requests for several previous events. Broad Comm has previously filed two other STA requests for this event. However, due to an increased demand for media support it is now necessary to request additional frequencies. In addition, a waiver of the spacing requirements to existing television broadcast stations is also attached. (See attached letter that has been sent to the FCC chairman from the Inauguration Communications Committee.) This request is similar to that made for the recent political conventions. It should be noted that not all of the requested TV channels require a waiver. Only those noted in the attachment have a station in the distance waiver area.
