SES Americom, Inc. respectfully requests earth station special temporary authority for a period of 60 days beginning on October 23, 2019 to permit SES to use its E170089 earth station to perform Tracking, Telemetry and Command for the ASTRA 3A spacecraft using Ku-band frequencies in order to drift the the satellite from 47 W.L. to 86.8 W.L. and to support operations at that orbital location. A full description of the proposed operations is provided in a modification application filed in parallel with this request, and STA is sought pending grant of the modification. The request is in the public interest because it will ensure safe satellite operations without causing interference to authorized users. See File No. SES-MFS-20191002-01233.
