We have been working X-band licensing clarifications since last fall with DoD, STA is now necessary due to close-in April 16-19 bench test windows, to be followed by a series of WGS handoff tests this summer.

Please explain the purpose of operation:
XTAR is a provider of commercially-available X-band SATCOM bandwidth, to be provided from our XTAR-LANT satellite at 30W, which we intend to utilize to support RDT&E efforts of a first-ever WGS-compatible remotely-operated amphibious vehicle, and, if successful, provide rapid-handoff/roaming capability between WGS and XTAR assets.
