Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
MIT Lincoln Laboratory seeks a Special Temporary Authority to transmit HF Sounding Signals from White Sands Missile Range, NM and 23 other sites in support of experimental HF system testing. The MITLL team will provide ionospheric and frequency de-confliction knowledge in support of frequency selection. The sounding is critical to interpretation of the collected test data.

The objective of this frequency authorization request is to provide ionospheric channel information that informs testing and interpretation of test results. Testing will be done during the night. MITLLs channel sounding will be performed prior to MIT Lincoln Laboratory testing and immediately following their testing.
