The Morphing Aircraft Structures program is a 30-month effort that will create and mature designs required for a seamless, aerodynamically efficient vehicle capable of radical shape changes in-flight. Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company will enable those radical shape changes via the integration of smart materials into the vehicle. Planned demonstrations include test of half-scale subcomponents, a half-scale integrated bench top demo, a half-scale wind tunnel model, and a quarter scale flying vehicle.
