An STA is requested as to fulfill requirements of new commercial contract# LVQ2TPS77 to the foreign government of Latvia. Part of this contract requires testing the aircraft interrogation radar in existing Lockheed Martin facilities, prior to the radar installation overseas.

Please explain the purpose of operation:
Purpose of operation is for performance verification and training prior to delivery of 1st radar system to Latvia. The application requests that a Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR) aircraft interrogator be installed on a TPS-77 primary radar platform. This SSR will provide detected aircraft data used for verifying accurate correlation of the primary radar detected positions to meet contract requirements. The aircraft detected data from this SSR radar will also be used for training new radar operators. The combination of testing and training is needed to provide confidence of the radar performance, and operators abilities prior to installation in Latvia.
