An STA is requested for FAA Mode S Code use for a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the Royal Saudi Air Force under Contract FA8706-09-0001. This FMS is under the authority of the USAF contact; Rudy Weichert ESC-PCO, (781)266-9472. Mode S code operation is necessary in Syracuse to test the Mode S function and data handling before shipment of radars to Saudi Arabia.

Please explain the purpose of operation: Individual 1030MHz IFF frequency is requested for temporary use of a FAA Coordinated - Mode S acceptance test. Up to 3 test events consisting of 2 hour Mode S trials per week is proposed. See attached Test Plan exhibit for more operation details. This will prove that Mode S IFF operations are properly integrated into a TPS-77 radar platform under the FMS Contract FA8706-09-0001.
