An STA is necessary to authorize the short-term operation of experimental radio equipment for a research demonstration at an academic conference. The proposed operation will take place indoors at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Rockville, Maryland, during October 13–14, 2026. The experimental system will operate at approximately 27.2 GHz and will be used only during the conference demonstration and associated setup and testing. The requested authorization is therefore limited in location, duration, and purpose.

Please explain the purpose of operation:
The purpose of the operation is to demonstrate and evaluate a millimeter-wave wireless research prototype incorporating a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS). The prototype will operate at approximately 27.2 GHz in a controlled indoor environment to demonstrate programmable control of the wireless propagation environment and evaluate the resulting wireless link. Operation will be confined to the designated indoor demonstration area at the conference venue.
