Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:

We are on a constrained timeline to meet deliverables for Government Customer for Gambits mesh networking software technology for small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) systems. This system is at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5 per USSOCOM Technical Experimentation (TE) 25-2. We are requested to demonstrate this technology at the upcoming Joint Interagency Field Experimentation (JIFX) 27-1 event.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation

Please explain the purpose of operation:

This STA would support continued advancement of NEURON (sUAS flight control and communication management software) toward higher TRL by enabling live RF testing of autonomous mesh communications. Gambits NEURON addresses the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research & Engineering (OUSW (R&E)) Critical Technology Area for Integrated Network System-of-Systems and is currently under contract with the Airforce Research Lab (AFRL) for further development and demonstration. This STA would support continued advancement of NEURON toward higher TRL by enabling live RF testing of autonomous mesh communications in a communications contested test environment.
