Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
EchoStar requests this STA to test a new wireless WiMax system designed to integrate with exisiting DBS equipment at the customers premises and allow the customer to receive broadband internet access, telephony, and on demand services. The WiMax system is made by a foreign manufacturer and operates in frequencies that are allocated to WiMax in other parts of the world. For the purpose of testing the product, it was not feasible to have the manufacturer change the operating frequencies. If the test is sucessful and EchoStar decides to order the equipment, the order will be contingent on the equipment being modified to work in an appropriate band for commercial WiMax service in the United States.
