Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
There is, with the reallocation of television channels 52-69 imminent, a severe shortfall in the number of channels for Broadcast Auxiliary (Low Power Auxiliary) use for wireless microphones. These devices are indispensible for video production, and the applicant is exploring alternatives for replacement spectrum. An STA is necessary because the frequency band specified herein for use for interference testing for wireless microphones is not currently allocated for Broadcast or Broadcast Auxiliary operation under Part 74 of the Commissions Rules.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
The purpose of the requested STA is to permit interference testing of low power wireless microphones on a mobile, itinerant basis. The results of the tests will determine whether or not the proposed band is a candidate band for shared Part 74 short-term, itinerant operation of wireless microphones for video production use, specifically at sporting events, such as automobile racing venues and golf events. The applicant is a video production company which conducts research and development efforts in video production.
