Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of the frequencies: 1470, 1490, 2367 and 2384 MHz for the purpose of providing portable video televised network coverage of the following golf events: FBR OPEN at TPC Scottsdale 17020 North Hayden Road Scottsdale, AZ 85255 (2367 and 2384 MHz from 2/1/2007 - 2/4/2007) OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE PRO-AM at TPC Tampa Bay 5300 West Lutz Lake Fern Road Lutz, FL (1470, 1490, 2367 and 2384 MHz from 2/15/2007 - 2/18/2007) WGC ACCENTURE MATCH at Gallery Golf Club 14000 North Dove Mountain Blvd. Marana, Arizona 85653 (1470, 1490, 2367 and 2384 MHz from 2/22/2007 - 2/25/2007) THE HONDA CLASSIC at PGA National Resort and Spa - Champion Course 400 Avenue of the Champions PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (2367 and 2384 MHz from 3/1/2007 - 3/4/2007) CHRYSLER CHAMPIONSHIP at Innisbrook - Copperhead Course 36750 US Hwy 19 N Palm Harbor, FL 34684 (2367 and 2384 MHz from 3/8/2007 - 3/11/2007) BAY HILL INVITATIONAL at Bay Hill Club & Lounge 9000 Bay Hill Boulevard Orlando, Florida 32819 (2367 and 2384 MHz from 3/15/2007 - 3/18/2007) WGC CHAMP. at Blue Monster Course at Doral Golf Resort and Spa 4400 NW 87th Ave Miami, FL 33178 (1470, 1490, 2367 and 2384 MHz from 3/22/2007 - 3/24/2007) SHELL HOUSTON OPEN at Redstone Golf Club 5860 Wilson Rd. Humble, TX (2367 and 2384 MHz from 3/29/2007 - 4/1/2007) Broad Comm provides radio-frequency support services to broadcasters and broadcast network entities for coverage of major events. The FCC has granted Broad Comm and others similar requests for several previous events. Broad Comm requests authority to use these frequencies to permit use of portable video camera transmitters that operate in the 1.4 and 2.3GHz frequency bands. Hardware limitations prevent operation of these cameras in spectrum reserved for broadcast auxiliary operations. Additionally, operation of these low power transmitters (1.0 W) on broadcast auxiliary frequencies is not spectrally efficient considering the possible need for spectrum by local broadcasters to cover the events. Due to the low power (1.0 W) and the low antenna height no interference to other users of the requested spectrum is anticipated. AFTRCC coordination has been requested and will be provided prior to these events.
