Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of frequencies 440.525 and 440.550 MHz for the purpose of providing support for the 2012 election coverage by the NBC televisoin network from the period of November 2 through November 7, 2012 in the area of Rockefeller Center New York, NY. The specific frequencies are being requested to provide very precise camera position tracking data from a new movable video camera system that will be deployed for election coverage. Although the proposed transmitter is capable of operating on frequencies that are routinely authorized, the specific camera system receiver was designed to use the specific frequencies being requested and there is not sufficient time to modify the equipment prior to the event. The equipment will be operated mostly below ground and not above street level. Broad Comm provides radio frequency support services to various entities at major events. The FCC has granted Broad Comm and others similar requests for numerous previous events.
