Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Telenor Satellite, Inc. seeks authorization to operate a low-powered GSM picocell for the purpose of demonstrating its airborne GSM technology. The demonstration will take place from January 14-18 at a laboratory owned and operated by the Boeing Airplane Company in Seattle, Washington. The purpose of this operation is to demonstrate the technical capabilities of GSM calls to be made aboard aircraft. This STA is required to permit the use of the low-powered picocell, which requires us of one 200 kHz GSM channel. Comsearch has informed Telenor that there are currently no operators holding licenses in the PCS C-block in which the picocell will be operating.
