                                                               EXPERIMENTAL LICENSE APPLICATION
                                                                          FILE NO. 0141-EX-CN-2018

EXHIBIT I - DESCRIPTION OF EXPERIMENT

Harris Corporation ("Harris") hereby requests an FCC experimental license to conduct experimental
interoperability testing and demonstrations of a HF wideband waveform to allow faster data transfer via HF
communications.

As noted in a prior experimental license application obtained by Harris under Call Sign WI2XIZ,1 in
collaboration, Harris and Rockwell Collins2 are collectively working together to develop new HF standards for
Wideband HF and continue to work out interoperability issues between our separate radio systems. This
request is similar in nature to that previously obtained by Harris under Call Sign WI2XIZ, however this request
has a lower requested bandwidth (48 KHz opposed to 115 KHz), a lower power (1.0 kW opposed to 1.5 kW),
and this filing requests authorization for experimental testing in the United States and possessions to
accommodate additional testing requirements.

The requested authorization will also help provide real time testing based on current conditions associated with
different locations throughout the United States and possessions and will facilitate short notice testing on the
selected frequencies for on air live demos to multiple DOD organizations that request short term demonstrations
to their leadership. Such requests are often received on extremely short notice with expedited operational
schedules. Due to the nature of the testing and demonstrations a two year authorization will allow Harris to
efficiently conduct testing and customer demonstrations, thus facilitating its ability to meet the needs of its
DOD customers.

Because the equipment is technically incapable of providing station identification, Harris respectfully requests a
waiver of the station identification provisions of Section 5.115 of the Commission's rules, 47 C.F.R. § 5.115.
All network traffic will be simulated traffic only, solely for evaluation purposes and not for the purpose of
providing network data communications services to user stations

Harris acknowledges that all experimental operations conducted in the requested bands will be on a non-
interference basis. However, to the extent necessary, Harris will utilize its best efforts to avoid and minimize
any potential interference.

Harris submits that a grant of an experimental license is necessary and in the public interest because it will 1)
advance HF wideband waveform development and standards 2) it will advance national security efforts by
providing technologically advanced radio equipment to DOD organizations.
