                       Request for Special Temporary Authority

  Dear Sir or Madam:

On behalf of Cox Radio, Inc. ("CRI"), assignee of the above—referenced Experimental
Station, we hereby request Special Temporary Authority ("STA") for CRI to operate the station
pending the grant of a pro forma nunc pro tunc assignment of license application filed
  concurrently with this request.

In the pro forma application, CRI seeks Commission consent to the assignment of the
license of the station from KFI, Inc. ("KFI") to Cox Radio, Inc. As explained therein, KFI filed
an application to assign the licenses of co—owned radio broadcast stations KFI(AM})/KOST(FM),
Los Angeles, California, and KACE(FM), Inglewood, California, to CRI in applications which
were approved by the Commission, pursuant to authority delegated to the Mass Media Bureau
(BAL/H—960823GG—GI et seq.) and consummated on September 30, 1996. Inadvertently, an
application for the pro forma assignment of the experimental license was never filed. KFI and
CRI have now filed such an application nunce pro tunc and a courtesy copy is enclosed.

Because the pro forma application will remain pending for some time and the
experimental station is currently in use, CRI requests an STA to operate the experimental station
until such time as the pro forma application is granted, but no longer than a period of 180 days.
Therefore, it is in the public interest to grant the requested STA so that CRI may maintain
operations of this facility according to the transaction that already has received Commission
  approval.
