Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of a number of frequencies for the purpose of providing support and coverage of the Tour of California Bicycle Race from May 9 through May 19, 2019 (including setup and post race activities). A number of frequencies are being requested to support this large event for the period of May 10 through May 18, 2019
Please note that the following frequencies will be for airborne use at a height not to exceed 500 feet.
160.2875, 160.3250. 160.3500, 164.8875, 164.9250, 455.9125, 456.0375, 456.2500, 456.3500, 456.8375, 465.9250, 466.8375, 466.0375, 3410.0, 3510.0 and 3615 MHz
The large number of frequencies is required as this event covers a very large area of California over multiple days and requires considerable logistics support in addition to the televised coverage. In addition, it is recognized that the frequencies are shared with other users and therefore may not always be available requiring a shift to a different frequency. Broad Comm provides radio frequency support services to broadcasters and broadcast network entities for coverage of major events. The FCC has granted Broad Comm and others similar requests for several previous events.
