Applicant requests the addition of 37 GHz and 39 GHz band frequencies to conduct fixed and
mobile testing with various types of experimental wireless equipment. Applicant’s testing and
the expected experimental equipment would support potential fifth generation (5G) multi-gigabit
per second (Gbps) applications for fixed and mobile wireless communication networks at higher
transmission rates and lower latencies than is currently available. The experimental system
would support voice, video, and data transmissions and lead to innovation as 5G radio
technology has not been used to provide commercial services in the 37 GHz and 39 GHz bands.
Millimeter wave propagation data will also be collected for use in upcoming commercial 5G
network planning and deployments.

Applicant’s proposed experiments would involve the transmission and receipt of signals by and
between up to six (6) base stations and up to six (6) user devices within five (5) kilometers of
each other. All emissions will be in accordance with the FCC experimental license rules and
regulations, on a non-interference basis and in coordination with all potential incumbents in this
band.
