Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Applicant requests authority to extend for six months (until May 31, 2019) the authority granted in a previously filed application for special temporary authority ("STA&"), ELS File No. 1804-EX-ST-2017, to conduct launch and early orbit phase (LEOP) communications (space-to-Earth) with the three Pathfinder satellites. The launch of the three satellites was delayed from 2Q 2018 until 3Q 2018, and accordingly, additional time is necessary. There are no other changes to the parameters of the approved STA. For the FCC's convenience, Applicant restates that it will transmit (space-to-Earth) using 4 MHz channels in the following three frequency bands (one channel for each satellite): 2238-2242 MHz; 2244-2248 MHz; and 2254-2258 MHz. The ground station is located at 196 Van Buren St. #450, Herndon, VA 20171 (38° 57 14 N, 77° 23 14 W).
