Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
We are testing a large antenna array on a external antenna test range located on the Raytheon facility grounds. The test setup consists of the receive antenna under test (a large array) and a transmitter connected to a horn antenna. The test will use a HP8753 network analyzer output, which is connected to a HP8449 power amplifier, which is in turn connected to the transmitter horn antenna on a pole which is 10 meters above ground level. The power output of the power amplifier is 18 dBm and the gain of the transmitter horn antenna is 15 dB which results in the 1.2 Watts ERP. We are planning to sweep over the frequency range listed in the STA using an unmodulated carrier signal from the signal generator (via the horn antenna) to determine characteristics of the antenna array under test over the specified frequency ranges using the display of the network analyzer.The two antennas are separated by approximately 10 meters. This will be repeated for several antennas over the course of the six month calendar window requested.
